Agriculture Safety & Security

Agriculture is different from many industries in that it can present hazard’s to people not actively involved in the industry, such as family members living on the farm and visitors, in addition to workers. Health risks for farmers and farm works include (but not limited to):
* Exposure to farm chemicals, such as pesticides and fertilizers.
* Exposure to high levels of dust.
* Falls from ladders, farm equipment, grain bins, or other heights.
* Exposure to ultra violet rays from the sun, which can cause skin cancer.
* Joint and ligament injuries.
* Exposure to loud noises/ sounds from certain equipment that can cause hearing loss or problems.
* Stress from environmental factors such as droughts, floods, wildfires, pests etc.
* Risk of injury from working with livestock.
Use of Drones in Agriculture
Agriculture producers are facing many challenges to ensure food production for an ever – growing population. Producers will have to increasingly rely on the use of “technology” to help produce food sustainability. Farms are becoming larger and it is not possible for farmers to walk and monitor it on foot every day, so they are reliant on “technology” to help them better manage their farming operation.
“Drone Technology” also known as unmanned aerial vehicles (uav’s) – may not be new technology, but is contributing to the increase in high – technology farming. The practical use of drones have grown significantly during recent years and is becoming more accessible to farmers. One of the best benefits of drone technology is improved safety. Farms are a constant threat and livestock theft is rife. Drones help farmers and authorities to do head counts and the search for missing livestock more efficiently. Drone technology can take farming to the next level and the rise in popularity of drones has seen an explosion of new companies offering farmers drone technology and big data services.
